mexi-llent adventures

the shaper studios boys, chris, kory, mike, derrik, and I took a nice little surfing vacay down to mainland mexico. Not only did they encounter outrageous amounts of fun and adventures, but they scored incredible surf.

Scoring a roundtrip ticket from TJ to Guadalajara for $240 sparked this epic adventure. Red-eye flights and long busrides plagued the team but in the end, it was quite worth it. after showing up in manzanillo to waves that could be compared to amber waves of grain. (thanks kory) the crew hailed a taxi truck man and cruised on down to pascuales where they were greeted by senor paco and this lovely little surf hotel. For the next seven days they woke up to perfect waves and 80 degree water. With a little bit of extra large swell in the middle of the week, the man, mr clark, was the only one to paddle when it was 25 ft. I was scared and derrik was throwing up his intestines (don’t worry about derrik, its his fault that he brushed his teeth with green sink water).

We were surfed out so it was time to go mad so we decided to head up to Puerto Vallarta for the remaining few days of the trip. The overnight bus from manzanillo to pv was a long, curvy, sketchy ride with no sleep but we made it nonetheless. Found a cozy little hostel in the town center and shit hit the fan from there. Inventing the worlds best new drinking game, mandals, and haggling with the gypsies were just part of the fun in pv. Meeting a lovely bunch of Canadians in the hostel kept us entertained, killer whale tramp stamps and going mad on ladies night leave us with stories for everyone.

Don’t worry we made it home. The plane ride home was very inappropriate mainly because volaris serves free beer. Which was awesome for mike and kory and me, but for the nice ladies in front of us… it must have been a long plane ride to TJ (mike swears they didn’t speak English). With no ride home from the boreder…we hoofed it a block or so at 2am until we saw mr nutter drive by and he drove our stinky asses back to the shop where our journey ended.

All in all. This shit was cray and although its nice to be back at the shop, it was the adventure of a lifetime. Thanks to everyone who was involved.
And then I found 200 pesos.
